Wordsearch Creator FAQ & fixes

The wordsearch you download is a PowerPoint file made of normal shapes and textboxes, not an image. Each shape and textbox can be changed to whichever font and color you prefer. See Edit the puzzle after downloading for more.

As many as you want. The puzzle creator fits as many words as possible into the grid. If the grid is too small to fit them all, increase its size. See Fit more words into the grid.

See refunds and billing for the current policy.

Yes. Once you buy Wordsearch Creator, you can create unlimited wordsearches and sell them for commercial use.

Do these wordsearches work in Keynote or Google Slides?

Section titled “Do these wordsearches work in Keynote or Google Slides?”

Yes. Even though they download as PowerPoint files, they open with no problem in Google Slides or Keynote.

I don’t see custom shapes or image upload.

Section titled “I don’t see custom shapes or image upload.”

Those features unlock with a license key. Enter your key in the app’s license section. If you bought through Gumroad or TPT and don’t have your key, see Find your license key.

My old PowerPoint add-in won’t load or is missing.

Section titled “My old PowerPoint add-in won’t load or is missing.”

That add-in version isn’t supported anymore. Switch to the web app at wordsearch.bearwoodlabs.com and enter your license key there. It carries over from the add-in, no repurchase needed.

Try a smaller grid size first to confirm the rest of your word list works. This has previously been caused by a generator issue with larger grids (25x25, 30x30) tied to word list length or content, which has been fixed. If it still fails for you, contact support with your exact word list, puzzle size, and the downloaded file if you got one.

Can I add a border around the wordsearch after downloading as PPT?

Section titled “Can I add a border around the wordsearch after downloading as PPT?”

The exported wordsearch is a table/shape, not text, so add a border using PowerPoint’s table design options, or overlay a transparent rectangle shape with a stroke on top.

Does the word search go diagonally in both directions?

Section titled “Does the word search go diagonally in both directions?”

Yes. Both diagonal directions are generated. An earlier bug that only produced one diagonal direction has been fixed.

Do you support Russian/Cyrillic keyboard input?

Section titled “Do you support Russian/Cyrillic keyboard input?”

You can type Cyrillic words into your word list, but the auto-filled filler letters that pad out the grid are always Latin alphabet, regardless of license tier. This is a known limitation, not something a commercial license changes.

What’s the print resolution like for a poster-size wordsearch?

Section titled “What’s the print resolution like for a poster-size wordsearch?”

The output is native PowerPoint vector content, not a raster image, so it scales without pixelation. Export to PDF before sending it to a print shop, and double-check font sizes at large scale. I haven’t tested poster-size printing.
